Anoka Halloween Capital of the World® Button

The Anoka Halloween Capital of the World® Button is a treasured annual tradition that gets more exciting every year! Purchasing a button not only supports our non-profit organization but also gives the wearer amazing local discounts throughout the entire month of October from some of our best stores, shops, food, and services.

Anoka elementary schools that participate, receive a portion of each button sale. Proceeds are dedicated to their media center. This partnership has been alive since the ’50s. Be sure to purchase your Anoka Halloween Capital of the World® Button!

2026 Contest Application

The annual button design contest is one of Anoka Halloween’s oldest traditions.
Get those creative juices ready for next year’s button!

Contestants who enter the button design contest will be part of our historic history! Share this page, tell a friend, and invite your creative crew to give it a shot!  The winning design will be recognized in some of our merchandise, receive special recognition throughout our festival, AND win $100 cash and a $50 merchandise certificate to the Anoka Halloween Gift Shop.

2026 BUTTON DESIGN CONTEST APPLICATION

RULES AND GUIDELINES

1. Contest is open to the greater Anoka area residents (Ages 12 and up).

2. Designs that incorporate landmarks of Anoka with a Halloween theme are strongly encouraged.

3. Design should include the following words: Halloween Capital of the World®, Anoka, MN, AND year of celebration, example: 2026, 1920-2026

4. The Design may contain up to 3 colors. The background color will count as one of the 3 colors. (NOTE: The committee may modify the background color of the winning entry to accommodate merchandise selections.)

5. A computer-generated design is preferred, but it will not have any bearing on the button design selected. The design is to be created in a 6-inch circle. The actual button size is a 2-1/2 inch diameter.

6. One entry will be accepted per contest participant. If your button design is chosen, you have to wait one year to re-enter the button design contest.

7. Designs will not be returned. Winning design becomes the property of Anoka Halloween and may be slightly altered. Original artwork and wording will be used if possible. The Anoka Halloween Committee judges button designs on simplicity, creativity, and displaying community pride.
